Overview

Scentsy is in need of a Middleware Engineer to manage development and operational related activities needed to support our e-commerce business as well as manage and support all other hosted web services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system deployment automation processes to enable teams to deploy, manage, configure, scale and monitor their applications
  • Build, configure and manage tools for fast and reliable deployments of software
  • Build tools for infrastructure monitoring and resolve any issues while running in production
  • Install new software releases, server automation, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems
  • Configure, deploy, and ensure secure setup of Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Administer and support multiple web development environments to ensure server uptime and availability (4- 9’s)
  • Monitor web services, concurrent connections, server performance, and report on up-time
  • Provide hands-on service and infrastructure operations support to internal and external customers in accordance with the terms of the established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Carry out incident and problem management support to the highest standards and coordinate the resolution with the appropriate resolver groups
  • Proactively detect problems related to service and infrastructure operations and delivery services, conduct diagnostics, and provide service
  • Support multiple Middleware integration projects by troubleshooting middle-tier issues and assisting developers on infrastructure related issues
  • Perform change management, configuration, design, and implementation of supported products and systems
  • Write custom tools and scripts to support the infrastructure and development teams, and help craft the direction and architecture of our systems 
  • Create, update, and maintain pertinent documentation for procedures, policies, permissions, and landscape
  • Collaborate and assist other departments and development staff with web and application server analysis, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting as it relates to application access and transaction performance
  • Assist QA teams during load testing and for real time monitoring of all stages of application deployment (Development, QA Load Test and Production)

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of Middleware Administration experience including scripting, system deployment automation, and hardware and network infrastructure design
  • Experience with installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning of Citrix technologies, including but not limited to Netscaler and CloudBridge
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Expert level troubleshooting skills
  • Able to perform job duties without supervision
  • Project Management and mentoring and training of other Middleware Engineers

Certifications required:

  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) Server Infrastructure
    OR
  • Comparable Solutions Expert certification in another Middleware area

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, etc.)
  • Ability to plan, test, and perform Middleware software upgrades for both development and production enterprise systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Window Servers, Domain Name Servers (DNS), IIS, and port security
  • Knowledge of enterprise deployment strategies, high-availability, and Microsoft server clustering
  • Strong knowledge of languages such as Ruby, Python, etc.
  • Working knowledge of web applications and server hardware
  • Ability to create new web sites, redirect HTTP traffic, interpret web logs, configure load balancers
  • Strong knowledge of DNS’s including troubleshooting, diagnostics, networking, web services, and IIS
  • Ability to generate and manage Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates
  • Ability to deploy Citrix technologies, including but not limited to Netscaler and CloudBridge
  • Strong customer service skills able to understand and respond to their needs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external resources to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ability to resolve issues and complete tasks effectively in both a team environment and independently
  • Ability to maintain new environment builds and complex troubleshooting
  • Provide effective communication and notification to business units as needed
  • Ability to effectively multitask, work under tight deadlines and stressful situations
