Scentsy is looking for a Cost Accountant to join our Finance team! This person will be expected to accurately cost inventory, provide guidance on the proper handling of inventory transactions, analyze cost variances, and account for the Excess and Obsolescence (E&O) reserve.


This could be a senior-level role for the right candidate!




  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform monthly analysis of inventory and variance accounts to ensure all inventory related accounts are reconciled for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Review, summarize, and report recommendations on inventory, E&O reserve, and gross margin
  • Work with cross-functional groups to minimize E&O inventory risk
  • Develop and improve policies and procedures to enhance inventory control efforts (e.g. cycle count and scrap processes, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain a business partner relationship with Operations departments
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions
  • Review and evaluate cycle count process and results for effectiveness
  • Ensure physical inventories are scheduled and performed
  • Prepare costed Bill of Materials (BOM’s) from the Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) identifying any inconsistencies with costs, including freight and duties
  • Review and maintain support for overhead rates for manufactured items
  • Produce various schedules in conjunction with financial reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Review system processes from purchasing to receiving to invoicing to ensure inventory is properly accounted for
  • Answer questions from field and support personnel regarding inventory transactions as appropriate
  • Assist with annual audits

  • 3 years of finance/accounting experience
  • 2 years of material/product cost accounting experience
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience in a multi-national company preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of inventory cost calculations and methods, including Standard Cost, First in First Out (FIFO), and Periodic Unit Price
  • Strong understanding of inventory management controls and practices
  • Ability to apply sound judgment
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Skilled Excel user, able to create and maintain complex spreadsheets
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work under deadlines
