  • Overview

    Intermountain Blending & Filling (a sister company of Scentsy) is looking for a Quality Control Inspector to sample, inspect, and test raw materials, components, bulk intermediate materials, and finished goods to ensure they meet customers’ quality standards.  In addition, the QC Inspector will support the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams by creating and editing controlled documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, job aids, and training presentations.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) inspections (audits) of all finished goods
    • Perform internal quality audits and environmental monitoring
    • Perform evaluations on color, odor, appearance, form, and function of all finished goods
    • Perform pH, viscosity, specific gravity, and other laboratory testing as assigned
    • Sample, inspect, and test all incoming raw materials and components
    • Communicate quality-related information to leadership
    • Participate fully in the continual improvement program, generating Items for Evaluation (IE) and safety near-miss reports
    • Work with QA management and Inventory Control Specialists to quarantine any questionable materials
    • Record observations into the non-conformance and Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) system
    • Assist production personnel with understanding and meeting all product specifications by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)
    • Create and update SOPs and other controlled documents, using the established format, as directed by Supervisor.
    • Under the direction of Supervisor, maintain document control systems

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Cross train in all areas of Quality Assurance, including assigned material sampling and laboratory testing
    • Write job aids and SOPs
    • Participate in document control and training programs
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
    • Perform all other assigned tasks and requirements as needed

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
    • 2 years of experience in a quality assurance/control environment or comparable education preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in technical writing preferred
    • Previous background working with AQL standards preferred

    • Ability to type a minmum of 30 wpm
    • Ability to stay on task and complete task from start all the way through to completion
    • Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

    • Knowledge of computers and all applicable software including Microsoft Office, familiarity with ERP systems (such as SAP) a plus

    • Ability to discern scent and color hues
    • Ability to frequently bend, squat, stand walk, push and pull, reach above shoulder level, have both arms and legs accessible, and perform manual dexterity
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly on a daily basis
    • Ability to occasionally sit, climb, and kneel
    • Ability to frequently read and comprehend, write, perform basic mathematic calculations, communicate orally, reason, and analyze

    Working Conditions:

    Work is performed in manufacturing and warehouse environments. Lighting and temperature are adequate. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing this job, employees occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, laboratory chemicals and equipment, and warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts and pallet jacks), and are exposed to raw materials or ingredients and strong fragrances (odor).
