  • Overview

    We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to help us in planning, architecting, installing, monitoring, upgrading, and supporting all Scentsy Enterprise database systems.


    You Would Do Things Like:

    • Configure and maintain database health and performance, ensuring continual high levels of performance, security, and availability
    • Administer and support database systems and environments to ensure server availability (99.99% uptime)
    • Refine and automate database processes, track issues, and create necessary documentation including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Architecture designs, and other system documentation as needed
    • Determine and communicate database hardware and system requirements to the system, storage, and network administrators
    • Collaborate with Architects to define, implement, and manage the data access security model as defined by the organization
    • Troubleshoot performance issues – work with operations and developers to investigate and resolve server and complex query tuning issues, resolving blocking and deadlocking problems, index fragmentation, and other database related performance issues
    • Support DevOps continuous delivery efforts from a database perspective, including automation of database change scripts and processes
    • Review design solutions and administration technologies for various Basis projects and services with SAP Basis from a database perspective
    • Research and implement ways to help the company meet business objectives with database technologies


    What You Should Have:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Prefer 7+ years of Enterprise level IT experience in administration, support or oversight capacity, and experience with a full SAP implementation project
    • Microsoft SQL and/or other database certifications preferred


    Things You Should Know About:

    • Database administration and configuration with Microsoft SQL Server (2008 or above) in a high volume transactional environment
    • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • SQL Server Service Broker a plus
    • SAP on SQL Server a plus
    • Database High Availability and DR Technologies, including but not limited to AlwaysOn, Mirroring, Log Shipping, and Replication
    • MongoDB or another NoSQL Database Platform
    • SAN Storage technologies, including snapshotting
    • Basic understanding of Server Virtualization and related technologies, such as VMWare
    • Basic understanding of networking
    • Business intelligence, data warehousing designs, database server hardware requirements
    • SAN architecture and tools, database server hardware requirements with the ability to create and implement solutions with that knowledge


    Things You Should Be Able to Do:

    • PowerShell scripting for administration, automation of processes, and issue resolution
    • Root cause analysis and identify complex SAP technical issues, and able to coordinate with SAP Basis resource on SAP upgrade efforts from database perspective
    • Transacting SQL development, tuning, and troubleshooting knowledge
    • Utilize existing monitoring tools, create new monitoring tools, and use the data extracted to make design changes and decisions
    • Follow change management and security practices
    • Be collaborative, cooperative, communicative, and transparent
    • Be highly motivated to continuously update and develop skills and stay current with rapidly changing technologies and how they apply to business needs
